1. Controller and contact
The controller is Marcel Tobien, Weihermattweg 6, 6353 Weggis, Switzerland. Send privacy questions and personal-data requests to autor@tobien.ch. This notice covers the functions of tobien.ch. Linked booksellers and external services have their own notices.
2. Green hosting and access data
The website is hosted by green.ch AG, Industriestrasse 33, 5242 Lupfig, Switzerland. Page requests transmit your IP address, requested address and technical browser data to deliver content. Green logs access for operation, troubleshooting and security. These data are not used to create personal advertising profiles.
3. Email and contact form
When you contact me, I process your sender address, supplied name and contact details, and message to answer your enquiry. Send only necessary information. Email passes through the participating email providers and is handled in the mailbox used. The contact form uses Formspree, Inc. Submitting it sends your name, email, subject, message and connection data to Formspree, which also processes data in the USA. You can instead email autor@tobien.ch directly.
4. Quiz, excerpts and motion preference
Quiz answers are evaluated only in your browser’s memory. Answers and results are not sent to me or an analytics service or stored as a personal profile. Reloading resets the quiz. Excerpt selection also stays in the browser. The display respects the device preference for reduced motion without creating a personal profile.
5. Cookies, analytics and newsletter
The supplied website code sets no analytics or advertising cookies. It includes no Google Analytics, advertising pixels or embedded social feeds. Fonts, covers and photos are served locally. This version has no newsletter signup and sends no newsletter addresses to Brevo. Book news is available in the journal without registration.
6. External services and recipients
Bookseller, Instagram, TikTok and Goodreads links are ordinary links. A connection to the provider starts when you follow the link, and its privacy rules apply. Besides me, hosting, email and form-delivery providers access data as needed for their tasks. Disclosure may also be required by law or to establish or defend legal claims.
7. Purposes, legal bases and retention
Swiss data protection law applies in particular. Where the GDPR applies, enquiries rely on Article 6(1)(b) or (f), secure operation on (f), and legal obligations on (c). Consent, where required, can be withdrawn for the future. Enquiries are retained as needed to handle them and necessary follow-up, subject to legal retention and legal claims.
8. Rights and complaints
You can request information about processing and correction of inaccurate data. Depending on applicable law and conditions, deletion, restriction, objection and portability may also be available. Email autor@tobien.ch. Reasonable identity verification may be needed to prevent unauthorised disclosure. You may contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, where the GDPR applies, the competent supervisory authority.
9. Security and updates
The website is configured for encrypted HTTPS transmission. Technical and organisational safeguards reduce risks but cannot guarantee absolute security. Do not submit sensitive information through the form. This notice will be updated when functions or providers change. Updated: 18 October 2026.
